LAW June 29 Update - Randy Orton Speaks

John Pollock / June 29, 2011 - 4:43pm

**The ‘Smackdown’ crew is in Tucson, Arizona tonight to tape the July 8th edition of the show as they will be doing a tour of South Africa next week. If you want a sense of how burned out the production and creative team must be, consider this statistic that they have produced 16-hours of new programming in the last ten-days dating back to ‘Capitol Punishment’.

**Randy Orton recently did an interview on an Arizona based radio station promoting his upcoming DVD and is likely to receive a lot of attention as a result of his comments. During the interview Orton more than implied that a number of guys in the locker room have slept with Kelly Kelly. In the interview Orton also goes into detail about his drug problems including an accidental overdose in 2006, which is discussed in the DVD. He also brings up the angles in the past where they have had models playing his wife and said both times the models were so terrible at acting that it ruined the segments as well as his comments he directed at The Rock prior to WrestleMania and Rock complaining to Vince McMahon about the interview. He stated that the concussion he suffered in Spain recently was his sixth concussion and flew over night to ‘Raw’ the next night and it was a complete blur.

**The full interview with ‘The Genius’ Lanny Poffo is now up on The LAW site. The full chat features Poffo’s memories of his late brother Randy Savage, his father’s ICW promotion and working in opposition to the Jarrett’s promotion in Memphis, meeting with Hulk Hogan at the CWI event in Brantford, his run with Hogan, Savage and Vince McMahon’s issues and more.

**The Rock on Twitter:

CM Punk: it's simple business - The Rock is the main event at Wrestlemania cause it draws more money in one night, then u will in lifetime.

**WWE ‘Raw’ did a 3.1 rating on Monday night and averaged 4,943,000 viewers.

**A new concept called All Wheels Wrestling is shooting their pilot tonight in Orlando, Florida at the Impact Zone and is going to be pitched to The Speed Network. The concept involves teams of wrestlers with captains Jay Lethal, Shawn Daivari, Sonjay Dutt and Aaron Aguilera. Here is a synopsis of the show:

Wrestlers can earn points for their team in every #AllWheelsWrestling match & each week will have a different specialty match. Speed matches will give wrestlers a chance to quickly earn several points for their team. Each week, teams will be ranked #1 thru 4 based on the points they've earned throughout the season. Fans will be able to track their favorite team's performance online & check the current standings. Teams will compete in a postseason tournament with the winner taking the AllWheelsWrestling Championship Cup.

**Ring of Honor has added a Tag Title Match for the July 8th event in Richmond, Virginia with Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas Vs El Genercio & Colt Cabana.

**Speaking of Cabana he has recently launched a series of comedy shorts with Marty DeRosa entitled ‘Creative Has Nothing For You’. Here are the first two shorts, which go up each Monday at

**Batista posted the following thoughts on the release of Dave ‘Fit’ Finlay on Twiter:

so im going to say this because i said i would elaborate later....and im sure i'll get some grief over it but i dont realy care. and this is completely the opinion of an outsider looking in. i only know what ive been told about Fit Finlay's release and i dont know exactly what happened...but no one in this world could convince me that Fit, the honorable man that he is, did anything that would warrant him losing his livelihood. i wouldn't have made it to the top without fit,and i wouldn't have made it through alot of the longass unbearable tours either. i seriously think that there's a huge void in the WWE without him. he isn't replaceable.

**Cee-Lo Green appeared on ‘The Voice’ on Tuesday night and dressed up as a member of the Road Warriors.

**David Lagana has a cool episode of ‘Formerly Creative’ posted where he welcomes former team members Alex Greenfield, Andrew Goldstein and John ‘Hot’ Carle to chat about the CM Punk promo from this past Monday night.

**UFC 132 is coming up Saturday night from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here is the full lineup for the show:
*Dominick Cruz Vs Urijah Faber for the Bantamweight Title – they are getting support on the main card but this is a big push by the UFC to put the 135-pound division on the map and put them in the headlining spot so that they are perceived as being on par with the higher weight classes (interesting concept but wrestling and MMA are totally separate animals right?)
*Wanderlei Silva Vs Chris Leben (unless Silva is coming into this fight with a recognition that he needs to adapt his style than this one is going to be a hard hitting and probably quick fight with someone going to sleep. Leben was stopped by Brian Stann and Leben has a tough chin but that is going to be put to task this Saturday)
*Tito Ortiz Vs Ryan Bader - there is no way Ortiz is being given another fight with a loss in this fight. Ortiz has to convince UFC to give him this fight and he’s in there with a tough wrestler, whose stand up is getting better but far from state of the art. Ortiz has yet to be blown out during a fight but his wrestling skills are not top level and when you compound age on top of that it’s really a case of diminishing returns with each fight.
*Carlos Condit Vs Dong-Hyun Kim – This is going to be a technical battle and fully expect it to go the distance with the winner putting themselves in line for the winner of GSP Vs Nick Diaz fight.
*Matt Wiman Vs Denis Siver – Siver put himself in the mix with his win over George Sotiropoulos in February and Wiman is a tough guy at 155-pounds. I like Siver in this one and with a win he gets into the very very long 155-pound contender’s line.

PRELIMINARY FIGHTS (top two are airing on Spike TV and the bottom four will be broadcast on Facebook)
*Shane Roller Vs Melvin Guillard
*George Sotiropoulos Vs Rafael dos Anjos
*Brian Bowles Vs Takeya Mizugaki (crazy this fight is so low on the card)
*Aaron Simpson Vs Brad Tavares
*Andre Winner Vs Anthony Njokuani
*Donny Walker Vs Jeff Hougland

**The UFC has confirmed that Jake Shields will fight Jake Ellenberger on September 17th in New Orleans, Louisiana in the main event of ‘UFC Fight Night 25’. This will be Shields’ first fight since his unanimous decision loss to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 129. Ellenberger also fought on that same card where he stopped Sean Pierson in the first round.

**The Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal Vs Roger Gracie light heavyweight bout that was scheduled for July 30th at the Strikeforce ‘Fedor Vs Henderson’ event has been moved to a pending Strikeforce card on September 10th due to Gracie pulling out of the July bout due to injury.
